by Brad Morgan

If you want to talk about technology creating a feel good humanitarian story, then look no further than audio books for the blind.

Our society has always been visual and is becoming increasingly so: from newspapers and books to computer screens, blind people have faced the struggle of accessing information that is readily available to most other people. The ability to read a book or newspaper is taken for granted by many of us, but it is a pleasure that is often denied the blind.

In today’s society, we obtain a great deal of information and entertainment using computers and the internet. Because they are very image-based, blind and visually impaired people struggle much more to access comparable information. Nor is Braille that much more convenient. While it does allow people to enjoy written language, it can be expensive and out of reach for many blind people.

When audio books for blind people were developed, it opened many doors for the blind, allowing them to easily get information, hear a story, and stay updated on current events.

For the first time, visually impaired people could go online and download their choice of books. The mass production of audio books for the blind, the opportunity came to learn in a way that had never been available before. In addition, the audio books were inexpensive or even free, making them accessible to most blind people.

Technology really can help improve and enhance people’s lives: in the case of audio books, it has helped blind and visually impaired individuals obtain knowledge in a way that they couldn’t just five or ten years previous.

The scope of audio books for the blind is unlimited, giving visually impaired people the ability to enjoy subjects like art, music, drama, history, economics, geography, literature, and more. This would have been unimaginable - or at least a dream - even a few years ago.

In the area of education, audio books have been particularly helpful and effective. Core subjects of reading, writing, math, and science are able to be learned through audio books, making easy access to education a right enjoyed by the blind and visually impaired.

There is more to audio books than education. They can be accessed solely for the pleasure of hearing a story. Thousands of titles are available in audio formats, including popular and contemporary authors, classics, fiction, non-fiction, and much more.

With all the technological advancements being made, it is easy to forget the people that are an integral part of the equation. Audio books for the blind are an example of technology at its best and most helpful.

How Not To Panic When That First Student Loan Bill Arrives

Education No Comments
by David Thomas

The magic day has come. After a lot of hard work and, honestly, a very good time, you have met all the requirements and are ready to graduate from college. It is a glorious time. Well, at least until that first monthly bill for your student loans shows up.

The vast majority of students use loans to get through school. These loans can be out of sight, out of mind while you are in school. That ends quickly when you graduate and are staring at a bill for tens of thousands of dollars. So, what can you do?

You graduated a month ago and get that first bill. You owe $$350 on your loans. Each month. For the next 10 years. Welcome to the real world! So, what do you do? One option is to defer payments until you can get on your feet. Ask your lender.

Ah, but what if you have a job waiting for you when you graduate? Deferal is no long an option. This creates a problem since most starting positions do not exactly pay a lot. To make ends meet, many use a trick to lower their month payments.

Make no mistake. The loan consolidation is a faustian proposition. You get relief in the form of lower monthly payments, but you will pay much more over the length of the loan. Why? The repayment term is extended to 30 years or more.

Financially, the consolidation loan is a nightmare if you pay it off as scheduled. You will pay tens of thousands of dollars in additional interest. The answer is to make one extra payment a year. This full payment will cut the term of the loan down dramatically.

Going to colleged used to require a reasonable financial price. Now, it is very expensive. This means practically everyone is going to have to pay the piper with student loans. The key is to understand what you are getting into in relation to repayment.

Though it is entirely tempting to move to another country or plan your own funeral, the best way to grapple with these loans is to simply begin to pay them off. It may take you a few years, but once those loans are paid you will be well on your way to financial freedom.

Easy Strategy For Students’ Visual Memory Improvement

Education No Comments
by Kyle Richey

Just about anyone you talk to who has ever had anything to do with children will tell you that if you want a child to really learn something you need to add an element of fun to the lesson. When you make it a game, it makes it easier for the student to retain the information and recall it at a later date. Of course, the added benefit of making a lesson fun is the fact that the student is more likely to pay attention to the next one as well.

You want to make these strategies for improving visual memory in students fun so that they’ll look forward to learning and they will even compete with each other to increase their odds of grasping the information even more. Make it a game and they will look forward to it each and every time and pretty soon they’ll remember everything you ask them to.

Using Picture Games

The picture game is one way that you can help to improve the visual memory of a student.

The game involves a simple picture. Choose one that has both foreground and background elements. Make sure to start out with simple pictures before moving on to ones that are more complex since you will be asking the students to recall the images on the picture. Next, hide the picture and ask the student to recall as much information about the objects in the picture and ask specific questions such as colors and sizes as well as locations. Then increase the difficulty as each session or level is massed.

This game will make students excited to memorize the details in the pictures, which will improve their visual memory skills.

Rewards

One of the best ways to improve visual memory in students is to use rewards for those who get all the details right. These rewards don’t have to be much (a star or two in the front of the room by the student’s name is a good idea), but the idea is to get students to really strive to want to remember more and more, so that they enhance their memories and therefore improve their learning skills in general.

It does not have to be anything big. In fact, rewards can be something as small as a sticker next to their name. Increase the level or type of reward based on how much they get right or how difficult it is. It is important to motivate students to want to participate in these activities. Doing these types of activities help students in the long run because it improves their ability to study and retain the information that they learn. Since many teachers use visual aids as part of their presentations being able to accurately recall visual images can be of significant benefit.

It will not only be of assistance to them while they are in school but will be of service to them throughout their lives.

Bank Owned Foreclosure Auctions

Education No Comments
by Steven McCarthy

How to buy bank owned foreclosure property, the mortgage crisis has resulted in a very high home foreclosure rate. This is a crisis for many, but also an opportunity for astute investors. Investors are able to make a large profit when they buy properties after foreclosure and resell them.

Right now in almost every city in the country the foreclosure rate is climbing higher and at a faster pace than we have seen in a long time. That is why investors are springing up all over the country to buy bank owned properties. Why is buying a bank owned property such a good idea? The truth is in most cases your buying foreclosed properties below market value and depending on the situation the discount off market value could be five to forty percent.

Buying and reselling foreclosed property generates a profit because it can usually be bought for far less than its market value. When it is resold for market value, the difference, minus expenses, is profit for the investor. Since an investor cannot expect to sell the home for more than its market value, the key to making a profit is acquiring the property so much below its market value that he can make whatever improvements are needed and still resell it for a profit.

Many investors start by buying property with little or no money of there own, and by properly structuring the deal they can help the family by taking over the mortgage debt on the property, there by saving their credit rating from further harm, and put a few dollars in the families pockets to catch-up on other bills, while at the same time turning a profit for the investor.

Work with the bank in coming up with the best deal possible. Sometimes a lender will waive portions of the closing costs. Some have even offered a deal on the down payment or interest rate. Never let yourself get into a bidding war. Expect competition when looking at bank owned properties. Decide the max you are willing to invest prior to making an offer on the property.

They are franticly searching for a way out that can at the least save their credit rating and preserve their future, and that is where the pre-foreclosure investor can help these people salvage their good name and credit rating by taking over the property and relieving them of the debt, they win by getting out from under the debt and saving their credit rating and you the investor win by getting a property below market price.

Another thing you will want to consider is the condition of the property. It has been said that people have completely trashed their homes after they were served the eviction notice. If you are going to have to go through a ton of repairs, the property may not be a good deal after all, especially if you are purchasing for the sole purpose of reselling.

Locating profitable property to invest in these days is a breeze. Just go online and start your search. For example, search for “http://www.foreclosurehowtobuycom” and you will find a searchable database of bank owned properties. With the ever increasing cost of property buying foreclosed property has become much more socially acceptable and highly profitable. Real estate agents are creating many new and innovative ways to show foreclosure properties. Learn how to do the research, and you’ll be able to make an educated judgment on what Bank owned foreclosure properties will earn a profit for you.

Big And Tall Men And Their Suits

Education No Comments
by Victor Santerino

Big and tall men wear suits just like other men, so why is it so much harder for them to find suits? The fact of the matter is that big and tall men have just as many options for suit wearing as other men, they just need to do a little more research.

I wrote this article to let larger men in on the secret to buying a suit that fits properly. The key to wearing a suit for any man is to find something that accentuates the positive attributes and eliminates the negative ones; this article will teach you how to do this.

The three most prominent suit styles are the American, British, and Italian styles. These styles are all dramatically different and easy to spot. However, the big man needs to know how to alter each of these styles in different ways to make them work for him.

The Italian suit is double breasted and does not have any vents. This type of suit has wide lapels and can make a mans chest look even broader. A few modifications to this suit will have it looking great on even the largest men.

Double breasted suits are great for covering the midsection and are much more forgiving than the American style. However, some key elements should be changed to make it adapt more to the larger body. The main areas to focus on are the lapels and gorge. Raise the gorge as high as possible to make the midsection look more elongated and make the lapels more narrow.

The British suit is a three button suit with two vents in the rear. This suit has average size lapels with broad padded shoulders. Pleats and cuffs are added to the pants.

This suit does a nice job covering up the midsection and making portly men look broader in the shoulders than they are. Larger muscular men should take away the padding in the shoulder to provide for a more natural slope.

American suits have two buttons and a single vent at the rear. Pants come in flat fronted models without pleats. Lapels come in both average and thin models.

This suit is great for larger men with muscular builds. Wear this suit to show off large pectorals and broad shoulders. The flat front pants will enhance the muscular look and the lack of cuffs will make you look a bit taller.

These tips should provide you with a good foundation of suit buying knowledge. Use what you have learned today to make the most out of your wardrobe.

Choosing A Luxury Suit Simplified

Education 3 Comments
by Victor Santerino

Choosing a luxury suit is one of the most confusing activities a person can go through. The reason for this is because their are so many great choices in fabrics to choose from. This leaves consumers to have to put absolute faith in their salesman to ask the right questions and do the right thing.

I wrote this article to give you a basic overview of what suit materials are generally used in luxury suits and the qualities of each. The goal of this article is to make you an informed buyer. After reading this article your luxury suit purchases will never be the same.

Luxury suits are always made out of some type of high quality wool. Materials found in luxury suits consist of virgin wool, lambs wool, merino wool, cashmere, and mohair. Choose a material that best fits your interests and lifestyle.

Cashmere is the most expensive luxury suit material you can buy. This fabric is great for year round use as it is lightweight and adaptable to multiple climates. The feel of this material is ultra soft and provides for a relaxed feeling garment.

Lambs wool suits are created using the wool off of baby sheep. Luxury suit wearers will find that this suit is softer and lighter than most other luxury suits. Wear this suit as your luxury summer suit.

Merino wool is taken from a breed of sheep known as Merino sheep. This material is shorter and thinner than all other wools. An advantage of using this material is that more fibers can be used to make up the garment, making it more durable than some other luxury fabrics.

The virgin wool suit is made up of wool that has not been spun for any other purpose than the suit. This type of suit is softer than any other luxury suit but can sometimes be much less durable. Wear this suit in situations where you tend to put less strain on your clothing.

Mohair is made from a thicker wool with a natural luster to it. This material is great as a winter luxury suit because of its heavier weight and ability to insulate the body more thoroughly than its rivals.

I hope you enjoyed reading this article as much as I enjoyed writing it. Your next luxury suit purchase will be smoother than ever.
